I obviously have done a horrible job of keeping this site current. I will do better from this point forward. There are a few things we are working on this month that I wanted you to be aware of.
We talked about Veterans' Day today. We worked on a timeline and will continue to discuss veterans throughout the week. If you or a family member is or was a member of the armed forces, please discuss it with your child. They were very interested in it today. Also, THANK-YOU for your service!
We are starting Unit 3 in math. Unit 3 deals with telling time, reading a graph, counting money, and making change from a $1.00. We can use as much help as we can get learning these skills, so any practice your child can do at home would be greatly appreciated.
Up to this point, we've been reviewing the long and short vowels. Our spelling words have been a review as well. However, now we are getting into more complicated phonics patterns. This week we are talking about the soft and hard c and g words. Your child brought the list home today. Please have them practice spelling and reading the words.
Thanksgiving will be one of our units coming up shortly as well as another round of Super Science. The week before Thanksgiving, our class will be traveling to Mrs. Moe's room to learn about the weather.
Most of the students have been working hard during center time. There are a few that spend quite a bit of time visiting during their work time. I did send homework with those that need to finish a few things from last week.
The cold weather is here and I've had some students that are not wearing a coat, a hat, or mittens. Please remind your child to wear these items. They go outside every day that it's not below zero. It can get cold for them on the playground. I expect them to wear their coat, hat, and mittens when they leave the classroom to go outside. They don't need to wear snow pants or boots until the snow arrives (hopefully that won't happen for a while).
I have added a few dates to the calendar. If you go to the calendar tab, you'll see a few events that are coming up.
